My Criticism Of Abia PDP Govt Not Attack On Gov. Ikpeazu, Says Assembly Minority Leader

Minority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Bende North Constituency, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has said his recent remark on the performance of the PDP-led administration in the state is not a verbal attack on the person of Governor.

He also defended his earlier stance that the PDP-led government in Abia is yet to meet the expectation of majority of Abians in the area of education, health care provision, job creation, environmental issues and critical infrastructure.

He was reacting to an earlier media interview granted with ABN TV which he said has generated lot of reactions.

In the said interview, he said the PDP-led government has failed and should be changed come 2023 when the governorship seat in his opinion is expected to move to the northern part of the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the lawmaker’s media team, he said a dispassionate critique and assessment audit of the various policies of Abia government reveals that it has not done well.

According to Hon. Chukwu, poor policy formulation and implementation in all aspects does not indicate an excellent performance.

From education, health ,job creation to environmental issues and critical infrastructure, he (Chukwu) mean to say that least is disappointing and frustrating.

“The perennial issue of non payment of salaries to staff of parastatals and education institutions in the state has become a signature project of the government. This is his (Chukwu) position and not the person of the governor on whose table decisions are made”

“The said press interview has generated several and diverse interpretation hence this press release.

“One of the issues that has continued to generate multiple interpretation was the reference to His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D the Executive Governor of Abia State, the minority leader wish to state and very unequivocally that his references to the governor was references to the PDP led administration in Abia State and not the person of the governor as mischievously interpreted in some quarters. Legally speaking the governor is the embodiment of the state and what the government represents” he added.
