An Abia State House of Assembly aspirant for Arochukwu constituency, Mr. Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna popularly called IGNES, has congratulated mothers across the country and Abia State in particular at this year Mothers’ Day celebration, describing mothers as great assets to the family, community and nation at large.
Mr. Ogbonna, a business mogul and technocrat said mothers as God’s special creatures play a significant role in bringing sanity to the homes, contribute in nursing and raising children who in turn become pillars of the society.
According to the Abia Assembly member hopeful in a statement on Sunday, despite difficult economic times, mothers have continued to ensure that they provide a shoulder as primary caregivers.
He therefore called for a larger and enhanced fair political stage for women to bring to bear their talents and God-given administrative skills to occupy leadership positions at various stages in the country.
He also called on government at all levels to begin to pay adequate attention to women’s health care especially as infant and maternal mortality rate increases. He insisted that time has come for mothers and pregnant women to enjoy a free antenatal and postnatal care in government hospitals across the country to mitigate the impact of hostile economic environment on them.
He also wished them a blissful celebration even as he assures that if elected as Abia Assembly member, he will prioritise the welfare of women and children in the state.
