An angry youths on Tuesday set fire to a truck after it crushed a motorcycle rider, popularly known as okada and his passenger to death along Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.
It was learnt that the motorcyclist was riding against traffic when he was knocked down by a vehicle and the speeding tipper truck consequently crushed him and his passenger.
Some motorcyclists and youths who witnessed the accident reportedly set ablaze the truck and lit a bonfire on the road.
A video sighted by our correspondent also showed a crowd running towards Eleganza company in the area.
Someone in the ccrowd was heard saying policemen were being chased into the building for shooting at the scene to disperse the crowd.
It was gathered that it took a combined team of policemen from divisions around the area, operatives of Rapid Response Squad and Lagos Task Force to eventually prevail on the crowd.
Some arrests were said to have been made and many motorcycles impounded.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said “normalcy has been restored.”
