The chairman Flo FM Umuahia, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim has congratulated the President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Mr. Chris Isiguzo on his reelection for another term of three years as the leader of the foremost media workers’ union in the country.
According to Nkemdirim, a former Director of Operations, Department of State Services, (DSS) the renewal of Isiguzo’s mandate at the delegates conference was recently held at Michael Okpara auditorium in Umuahia is a clear reaffirmation of the confidence members of the union have in his leadership.
In a congratulatory letter to Isiguzo, sighted by ABN TV on Saturday, Nkemdirim highlighted that the NUJ President is a perfect example of rising from grass to grace through discipline, hard work, and commitment.
“The reelection of Mr. Chris Isiguzo as the National President of NUJ is undoubtedly a manifestation of the confidence the union members repose in him.
“A visionary, kind, and committed journalist, Isiguzo is an example of how Abia sons and daughters have remained good ambassadors of our dear state in their various fields of endeavour.
“As a journalist for decades, he has demonstrated rare humility, professionalism, and pragmatism in the discharge of his assignment to the country.
“I join other stakeholders to felicitate with him and wish him a more fruitful second term in office” Nkemdirim remarked.
At the delegates conference, Isiguzo polled 665 votes to defeat his opponent, Yusuf Idris, from Kaduna State Council of NUJ, who scored 15 votes.
The Returning Officer, Mr Joe Ajaero, said that 704 delegates were accredited for the election, which took place at the Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.
