Speaking with ABN TV shortly after the lecture, Prof. Onyebuchi who was the chief host noted that this is the first time eminent medical professionals are coming together in a non-academic atmosphere to share with their colleagues their research experiences.

According to Prof. Onyebuchi, the assemblage of professors and respectable medical professionals from various tertiary health institutions provided a platform to share experiences from their fountain of knowledge in what they have done in various research programmes.

The circulation of such research outcomes he said will serve as a building block in assisting health workers manage their patients more effectively.

Prof. Onyebuchi said the event will inspire consultants in the medical profession to be more academic and delve into deeper research to properly care for the patients.

“It’s going to make an impact in service delivery by making sure that the patients are managed in the best way, in strict adherence to global standard practice.

This is going to spur competition. More consultants will start putting what they are doing together to be able to qualify for us to one day invite them to come and share their experience in this distinguished medical specialist lecture” he said.

He further noted that as the first public hospital to conduct invitro fertilisation in South East and South South Nigeria as well as other notable medical records, the FMC Umuahia with the latest move to further stimulate research and consultancy in the Federal Medical Centres and specialist hospitals will encourage professionals be more academic oriented by putting what they are doing in writing, publishing more to qualify as authorities to reckon with.
