The Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala has assured residents of the state of a hitch-free inauguration ceremony slated for 29th May 2023.
The incumbent Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is expected to handover the mantle of leadership to Dr. Alex Otti winner of March 18 governorship election in the state.
The Police and other Security agencies have been massively deployed to fortify venues of the Inauguration ceremony in the State before, during, and after, the CP said in a statement on Sunday signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Geoffrey Ogbonna.

He, therefore, urges all Abians and visitors to adhere to the rules and regulations as regards the Inauguration. He also reminds all to report any suspicious activity or persons to the Police or other relevant Security agencies, he stated.
The release added, “The CP warns all non-state actors, groups or individuals with the intention of causing or creating any form of chaos before, during, and after the celebration to steer clear off the venues as the law enforcement agencies will not hesitate to subdue any confrontational or act of insecurity.
“Furthermore, the CP has ordered constant ‘CONVOY PATROL/ SHOW OF FORCE’ across the metros and urges all residents not to panic with the increased presence of security operatives patrol within their areas as the Command is committed to ensuring a safe and secure Abia before, during and after the period.
“The CP urges public members to support the Police and be law-abiding because Security is a collective responsibility.
“On behalf of the Command, I wish everyone a pleasant and successful Inauguration ceremony.”
