The Action People’s Party (APP) in Abia State has elected Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu as its governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He won following his adoption as the party’s consensus candidate shortly after an aspirant, Ndem Chukwu stepped down for him.
Chukwu said he is pleased with Mascot mandate for the people of Abia state, urging his supporters to offer their full support for the candidate of the party.
The gubernatorial primary election also coincided with National and state Assembly Primary elections.
Chief Mascot, a younger brother to Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu Chief Whip of the Senate in his acceptance speech said; “we say no to paying of school fees in primary and secondary school, that is free education we are talking about, a day to restoring our normal free healthcare in all local government, a day of repairing and building of new roads a day that salaries and pensioners will be paid on the 25th or 26 of every month, it is a day that we focus on restoring security back”To Abia state, where everybody can trade, can do their business without fear of anything in Abia.
“It is a day to return mandate to the people, it is a day that your vote, your voice will start counting, it is a day of change and change has come to Abia.
“We will campaign ward by ward, we will take our massage to those that will vote for us. We will promise them what will do for them, we will let them know what we will do to change Abia it won’t be mouth making so there’s work for me and there work for every one of us.”
“We won’t be a government that will only focus on road building as we build we will also ensure that our people are well feed.”
“Please in the next few weeks we will set up campaign counsel so we can begin visitation, we will roll out program we will use for this election, we should not be afraid, we will move local government by local government so that when we are elected you will have our word to hold us by but one thing we want to assure you is nonpayment of salary will be a forgotten issue”.
Other candidates elected at the APP Gubernatorial, National and state Assembly primary election are Hon. Signor Kanu as Senatorial candidate for Abia South Chijioke Nduka as Abia Central Senatorial candidate Chijioke Nduka while Abia North senatorial Candidate is Hon. Ifeanyi Adiji.

Nnamdi Obuagu.
