Marginalisation: I Stayed Away From APC Convention To Avoid Inciting South-East Youths — Nwajiuba

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba

Former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has spoken up on why he was absent from the venue of the just concluded national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, saying he was avoiding temptation of inciting the youths.

Nwajiuba who had earlier decried marginalisation against the South East region by APC over its failure to zone presidency to the region was conspicuously missing at Eagles Square when he was invited along with other contestants to make their final remarks to the delegates before the commencement of voting.

He said, “…some of the south east aspirants who choose to attend referred to in their pleas for Justice, or need to constitutionally require it, in the face of the absence of conscience. Even their elderly wailing on national television could not move a vote, if I had shouted same in a more youthful voice, it may have become inciteful in face of our current security difficulties in the southeast and may thus spite our efforts. Better to stay out”.

Nwajiuba who had earlier resigned his appointment as minister to declare his intention to run for the country’s Presidency made real his intention when he purchased the N100m nomination and expression of interest forms to join the race.

He along with other contestants from the South East region had earlier written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to zone the APC Presidential Ticket to the South East region.

This however did not materialise as the South West which currently holds the position of the vice president had the day.

Recall that the presidential primary election of the party which has since ended produced the former Governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.

He is expected to square it out with the likes of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Musa Kwankwaso, and others at the polls.
