Manchester City Eyes Kyogo Furuhashi

Manchester City FC is reportedly eyeing Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez.

After trading Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for a record-breaking €95 million, City hope to sign another forward before the transfer window closes to lessen the workload on Erling Haaland.

Since joining the Scottish club, Furuhashi, who has scored 73 goals in 135 games for Celtic, has been an exceptional player. Personal terms are not anticipated to be a barrier for the 29-year-old Japanese international, who is keen to join the Premier League.

City manager Pep Guardiola sees Furuhashi as a strong candidate to provide depth in the attacking lineup. The club is however also exploring other potential targets, including younger forwards.

City are also focused on re-signing Ilkay Gundogan from Barcelona after the German midfielder was informed he could leave the Catalan club this summer.

Gundogan’s return to Manchester seems increasingly likely, but the Furuhashi deal remains under consideration as the transfer deadline approaches.
