A driver at Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture Umudike, Abia State whose name was given as Kingsley Akpan a native of Akwa Ibom State has been shot dead by yet-to-be-identified persons.
An eyewitness, Nnamdi Dike who spoke to ABN TV shortly after the incident on Monday said they were in his shop located at F-line Junction Agbama Housing Estate Umuahia when they heard a gunshot.

According to him, Akpan was hit on the chest by a bullet suspected to have come from a group of passers-by from Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA who were in the area to celebrate their new yam festival.
The victim was said to have raised alarm and immediately rushed to the hospital.
The eyewitness told ABN TV that the victim was rejected in the first hospital but later admitted at Federal Medical Centre where he was eventually pronounced dead.
All efforts to reach the PPRO of Abia State police command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna for a comment proved abortive.
