A retired military officer, Major General Ijioma N. Ijioma (RTD) has declared his intention to succeed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu in 2023 under the platform of APGA upon the expiration of his tenure, ABN TV reports.
He spoke at the party Secretariat in Umuahia on Thursday during his official presentation to the state leadership following the formalization of his membership of the party in January.
Addressing party stakeholders, he said he has joined the Abia governorship race to fill the vacuum created by leadership deficit in the state.
He also urged the leadership to give him the opportunity to prove himself, assuring that he would be a loyal party man.
The State chapter chairman Rev.Augustine Eliemere appreciated Major Ijeoma for his donations to the party and made him understand that the people want those that will carry their interest to heart, give them good governance.
