Lots of Abia children are currently in jubilant mood following the successful conclusion of the 2023 Back To School Carnival where a number of gift items to support their education were shared.
Organised by Mrs Ngozi Ogbonna popularly known as Ada Elias (Odiuko Na Mba), the carnival took place amidst fanfare in Umuegwu Afugiri Umuahia Abia State where children of Afugiri community benefitted from largesse doled out.
Items distributed include, school bags, school shoes, pencils, books, rulers, mathematical set, pen, lunch boxes, water can, erasers, sharpeners, scholarships and cash gifts.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ogbonna said her motivation and inspiration comes from her late mum who she said was a philanthropist of great repute.
According to her, “she makes sure that everyone around her is happy”. She also said, “It’s my greatest joy to see others happy, when people are happy I am happy, am not asking or seeking for anything in return”.
The Back to school carnival which is organized to encourage and support the children of Afugiri community in their bid to secure quality education.
Mrs. Ogbonna noted that the carnival is an annual event that happens in two segments, the first is the Back to school drive, second is the Christmas party.
She said many children of the community have benefitted from her scholarship scheme.
The benefitting children could not hide their joy as they left praying for the organiser.
