As the distribution of palliatives in Abia State, part of measures to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the people continues, the state government has approved the release of another food items across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The food items released to each local government area include 400 cartons of Spaghetti, 150 cartons of Tin Tomatoes, 20 Gallons of Vegetable Oil, and 900 cartons of Noddles.
Others are 55 crates of Malt drink, 200 Sachets of Sugar, and 500 bags of Salt.
A release made available to ABN TV by Barrister Chris Ezem, Secretary to Government and Chairman of the Abia State COVID-19 Committee ordered that the Transition Committee Chairmen of the various Local Government Areas should distribute the items across party lines to all the various Communities through the Traditional Rulers, Community Presidents General, Women Leaders, and Youth Leaders.
“Government directs that these items must reach the various communities and distribute amongst the vulnerable groups and less privileged persons” the statement added.
