Voting has commenced at Polling Unit 022, Ward F, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, where President Bola Tinubu is expected to cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections.
Our correspondent observed that officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission arrived at the polling unit early, with accreditation and voting beginning as scheduled.
At exactly 8:40 a.m., voting began while voters cast ballots to elect the next chairman and councillor for the area.
Security presence was noted at the scene, with police officers maintaining order while party agents monitored the process.
In a similar development, voting was also underway at Polling Units 027, 113, 038, and 112, with a few voters seen participating in the exercise.
The local government elections are taking place across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
One of the voters who spoke to our correspondent at St Peter’s Primary School polling unit 003, Omolara Jemiriye, expressed satisfaction with the election process.
