The family of Late Ezinne Elizabeth Okoro Kalu (née Agwu Nwoke) has announced January 8, 2026, as the burial date for their beloved matriarch, who passed on to glory on September 12, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
According to the burial programme released by the family, funeral activities will begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, with a Christian wake-keep at her family residence located at Nkwa Agwu Lane, Ihenta Road, Ebem Ohafia, Abia State.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, her remains will depart Mbem Mortuary by 10:00am for a brief stop-over at her compound in Ndi Mba Idika and Ndi Anaga, before lying in state at her family home. The funeral service will hold by 12:00 noon at the Ohafia Local Government Headquarters Field, officiated by the Roman Catholic Church, Assumpta Parish, after which interment will take place at the same venue.
A Thanksgiving Mass in her honour has been scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Roman Catholic Church, Assumpta Parish, Ohafia.
Late Madam Elizabeth Okoro Kalu, fondly described as a woman of faith and virtue, was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunty whose life was marked by humility, service, and strong Christian values.
The family, through Uferé Inyang, thanked friends, associates, and well-wishers for their prayers and support, and prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
