The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a couple for allegedly battering their two children aged five and two.
The woman identified as Busola Oyediran and her lover, Akebiara Emmanuel, were arrested on Friday following reports by concerned neighbours.
The neighbours had alerted the police over the constant physical abuse of the minors by their biological mother and her partner.
Following the report, the police stormed the home of the couple in the Egbeda/Idimu area of the state and arrested them.
When confronted, Busola denied the allegation that she brutalised her children, saying they fell from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the couple was already in detention and would be arraigned in court by Monday, January 16.
He added that the biological father of the children had been alerted.
