US Donates $1 Million In Medical Supplies To Katsina

The Katsina State Government has taken delivery of its first container of donated medical supplies from World Medical Relief in Detroit, USA.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, said the delivery stems from Governor Dikko Radda’s visit to World Medical Relief headquarters in November 2023, where he met with the president of the organisation, Mr. George Samson, and his team.

“The governor conveyed his passion to ensure the good people of Katsina have access to high-quality healthcare. He also informed President Samson of the healthcare needs assessment results conducted by the Katsina State Government immediately after he assumed office.

Subsequently, Governor Radda secured a commitment for ten containers of essential medical equipment and supplies. It should be noted that an average container has equipment and supplies worth $1 million,” he said.

Kaula also stated that two additional containers are en route from Lagos, while seven remain in transit on the high seas.

“Additionally, the World Medical Relief relayed their commitment to help Katsina State source for state-of-the-art MRIs and CT scans, including installation and training for the technicians at a discount rate.

“Governor Radda described the partnership with World Medical Relief as the administration’s commitment to reform healthcare delivery in Katsina State. These medical supplies will significantly enhance our capacity to provide quality healthcare services to our citizens, the governor stated.

“The state government has equally implemented a distribution plan to ensure these vital medical resources reach healthcare facilities efficiently.

“Since assumption of office, Governor Radda has shown keen interest in reforming the healthcare sector in the state. This led to the massive upgrade and transformation of some healthcare facilities to Comprehensive Health Centres and General Hospital standards to cater to the residents’ needs,” Mohammed explained.
