Former Chelsea star, Chris Sutton believes N’Golo Kante has what it takes to keep Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric silent in today’s Champions League quarter-finals clash.
The Blues are in Spain for the first leg of their quarter-final clash, with the west London side handed an injury boost ahead of the showdown.
Ahead of the all-important match, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had warned his players against underestimating his former club.
The 37-year-old Modric is one of Real Madrid’s most dangerous players but Sutton has argued that N’Golo Kante can help keep him quiet.
“Liverpool’s midfield was dominated by Real Madrid in the last round [and] Chelsea cannot allow that to happen to them,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.
“N’Golo Kante has trained ahead of this first leg and that could be huge.”
Sutton recalled that when Chelsea defeated the La Liga champions in the semi-finals two years ago, “Kante was Man of the Match in both legs and again in the final against Manchester City”.
