KANO: Trouble For Ganduje As Anti-Graft Agency Confirms 2018 Dollar Videos, Summons Ex-Gov

Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate-past governor of Kano State, has reportedly been called by the state’s anti-corruption agency in connection with a 2018 video purportedly showing him receiving bribes from contractors hired by his administration.

In October 2018, an online publication, Daily Nigerian, uploaded video recordings supposedly captured by a spy camera showing Ganduje allegedly accepting wads of dollar bills from a contractor.

The former governor was said to have collected $230,000 as part of a $5 million bribery agreement with state government contractors.

The films gained the former Kano governor the moniker ‘Gandollar’ from social media users.

Ganduje has been summoned for examination by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) five years after the films were leaked.

Despite Ganduje’s administration’s assertion that the recordings were doctored, PCACC chairman Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado said on Thursday that forensic examination proved the videos’ authenticity.

“The authenticity of the videos had been confirmed,” Rimingado was quoted as saying during a public forum in Kano by Channels TV.

Rimingado went on to clarify that the PCACC’s inability to probe Ganduje at the time was owing to his immunity as a sitting governor.
