In Kano State, a man named Kabiru Muhammad has filed a Shariah court complaint against his in-laws for allegedly removing his wife from her marital house without his permission.
The plaintiff appeared in court with three of his wife’s relatives, Ali Dan Abba, Hadiza Dan Abba, and Haruna Bala Dangwauro, in Kano Municipal’s Hotoro Masallachi district on Thursday, according to Daily Trust.
The wife testified in court that she was not forced to leave her husband’s home, but went to her elder sister’s house on her own because her husband was not caring for her.
“I took myself to my elder sister,” the woman explained. Nobody compelled me to do so. I’d been sick for quite some time, but he refused to take me to the hospital. That’s why I went to see my sister in Dambatta LGA.”
The court presided over by Mallam Nasir Muhammad Ahmad, ordered that the woman be taken to a hospital for treatment for the case to be heard.
