Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday visited Nizamiye Hospital situated in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
This is believed to be in confirmation of his firm belief in the nation’s health system over foreign medical tourism.
The former Abia governor was said to have come for a routine medical checkup.
A top aide of the governor anonymously told our correspondent that senator Kalu has been a regular visitor and patronage of the hospital for the past six years.
He further stated that Kalu has consistently shown his belief in Nigerian owned hospitals despite having the capacity to patronize foreign medical missions.
The Abia North Senator was last year spotted at the Federal Medical Center Umuhia where he underwent medical examination against his doctor’s advice to undergo the medicals in Germany.
Our correspondent gathered that Sen. Kalu throughout his stay in office as governor between 1999 to 2007 did not patronise foreign hospitals.
