Juventus Penalized With 15-point Deduction For Transfer Activities

According to the national soccer federation (FIGC), Juventus has been deducted 15 points for the current season by an Italian soccer court looking into its transfer activities.

Juve was third in Serie A with 20 games remaining in the current campaign, 10 points behind champions Napoli. Due to the loss of points, they would drop to the middle of the table and be ineligible for European participation.

The decision is more severe than the nine-point reduction that a soccer prosecutor had asked for earlier on Friday at a hearing regarding Juventus, the most successful club in Italy, and many other teams’ handling of player exchange agreements.

The former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli would not be allowed to take office in Italian soccer for 24 months, the sports court also decided.

It also agreed to impose a 30-month suspension on Fabio Paratici, the former sports director of Juventus and current managing director of football at Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.

Juventus has asserted that its accounting complied with industry norms and denied any misconduct.
