JUST IN! Former Imo Governor, Ohakim Visits Sen Kalu

Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim was yesterday,  at the residence of the Chief Whip of the Senate,  Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

This is coming at the heels of several political heavyweights’ visit to Senator  Kalu following his release from Kuje correctional centre on June 3.

‘The Nigeria Daily’ recalls that former governor of Abia state (2007-2015) and current senator representing Abia central senatorial zone, Senator Theodore Orji also visited Senator Kalu recently.

Also recall that in the 2007 general election,  Senator Kalu who was the presidential candidate of the People’s Progressive Alliance, (PPA) garnered over four million votes to come third.

Through his then political party, influence and reach, he was able to install Senator Orji and ex-gov Ohakim as governors of Abia and Imo respectively.

The two governors later fell apart with Senator Kalu and  Kalu’s party lost the two states to the People’s Democratic Party.

Ohakim’s private visit to Kalu, The Nigeria Daily learnt, lasted for over two hours and discussions were centred on political issues.

Meanwhile,  there are strong indications of political realignments in the South East as leaders of the South East  are claiming readiness of grabbing power at the centre in 2023
