Jennifer Lopez Sued $300,000 Over Alleged Copyright Infringement On Personal Photos

American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez is facing a $300,000 lawsuit after allegedly posting copyrighted photographs from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on her social media without proper permission, according to Billboard.

Lopez made a memorable entrance on January 5, donning a flowing white gown with a white faux fur coat on the red carpet. She later shared five photos from the event on her social media, captioned “GG Weekend Glamour.” The images quickly gained traction online, being reshared by fans and media outlets.

However, photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, have filed a lawsuit against Lopez, claiming she posted two of their photos without authorization. They are seeking $150,000 per image, amounting to a total of $300,000 in damages.

The lawsuit argues that Lopez used the photos to promote her fashion brand partnerships by tagging her clothing and jewelry designers.

“Ms. Lopez’s unauthorized use of the images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” the lawsuit states.

“For example, Ms. Lopez used the images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewelry, leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.”

The lawsuit also claims that while Lopez’s representatives had agreed to licensing terms, she has not yet finalized the agreement.

This is not the first time Lopez has faced legal action over image rights. She was involved in similar lawsuits in 2019 and 2020 for posting professional photos without obtaining the photographer’s consent.
