I’ve Forgiven Tinubu But Can’t Forget – Bode George

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, says he has forgiven President-elect Bola Tinubu, but will not forget.

Both men who are from the same part of Lagos have been involved in a rivalry that is over a decade.

Speaking with newsmen, the PDP leader said as a new administration takes over, there is a need for Nigerians to be steadfast in praying for the country.

He insisted that the process that brought in Tinubu was “shambolic”, even as he expressed hope that the judiciary would do justice to the petitions challenging the election.

ABN TV reports that there was a move to reconcile Tinubu and Bode George recently.

He, however, declared that there is nothing personal between him but insisted he would not congratulate him since the case is still in court.

ABN TV reports that George and Tinubu had been at loggerheads over the former’s incarceration when he chaired the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). He was later discharged and acquitted.

But George said, “I have forgiven him, but you cannot forget. I also do not accept the procedure to assume the office.

“Because it is my county, I can only pray for my country, but the process was shambolic, the man was rushing as if he was losing his child, that’s the INEC  chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. They got the result that same night and handed over the certificate in the middle of the night,” he said.

On his assessment of Buhari, the PDP leader said, “My personal assessment is that they failed, not completely in every sector, but if you do an exam and say you must have a minimum of 33% then you can go to the next class, but they did not attain that 33%.

“If I give them maybe about 5%, even the 5% requires a lot of introspection, the economic sector, the education, agricultural and infrastructural sectors, the most important thing you must guarantee to your people as a government is security of lives and property, who is safe now?

“Whether you’re a poor man, middle-aged, when you are walking towards any direction, you have to be looking, front, back, left, Centre. So it is very disheartening and heartbreaking that the number one job, which is to guarantee security of lives and property, has failed.”
