Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has decried the growing insecurity across the country, arriving at a conclusion that the once peaceful Nigeria is at war with itself, ABN TV reports.
The Abia North Senator while insisting that insecurity is not a regional or ethnic but national challenge, urged for a collective acceptance of the fact that Nigeria has an issue at hand that needs urgent solution.
Speaking on Channels TV Sunday Politics monitored by ABN TV, Sen. Kalu applauded the President Buhari-led federal government for other developmental strides it has accomplished in line with its promises to the country, but reiterated that it is yet to get it well in security sector.
“It’s a pity that this is the first time Nigeria will go to war with itself. The government has gotten everything right but we’ve not gotten security where it ought to be. I think the nation is at war with itself everywhere” he said.

The former Abia governor who said he had predicted the current rampaging kidnapping in 2000 when he was governor during former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration at a time two expatriates were kidnapped in Warri, Delta state said he is not totally surprised.
He added, “It’s not about South East. It’s not about the guy you just spoke to now (Emma Powerful, IPOB spokesman). It’s a national issue which should be administratively looked at.
“We are at crossroads. We must come together to see what happens to the system. The system is broken in terms of security. There’s a lot of infrastructure going on in our region, there are a lot of things going on but you need to join this infrastructure with security.
“I think a lot more has to be done. We need to agree there is a problem. Once we agree there is a problem, we need to come together as a country. It’s not issue of South East, South West, North East, or anywhere. It is issue of Nigerian people. Nigerians need to come out quickly and address the issues” he said.
