The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the start of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2025 general elections.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the Commission said that online pre-registration will begin on Monday, August 18, 2025, via its portal: cvr.inecnigeria.org.

In-person registration will follow on Monday, August 25, 2025, and will be available at all INEC Local Government Area offices and other designated centers across the country. The physical registration will run Mondays through Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

INEC urged eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of this opportunity.

“This exercise is for Nigerians who have reached voting age or those who missed previous registration windows,” the Commission stated.

“We encourage all eligible citizens to either begin the process online or visit our offices and designated centers once physical registration starts.”

The Commission also clarified that the CVR process is not limited to new voters. It also includes: Transfers of existing voter registrations.  Replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), Corrections of personal details such as names and dates of birth

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive and credible electoral process.

“Our goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to exercise their civic right. We are working to make the voter registration process accessible, transparent, and inclusive,” the statement added.
