The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that by-elections will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in constituencies where legislative seats have become vacant.
According to INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the vacancies in both national and state assemblies are due to resignations, deaths, or court-ordered annulments of previous elections.
Yakubu made the announcement during a consultative meeting with political party representatives held in Abuja on Thursday.
