INEC Denies Monitoring Labour Party’s Congresses

As the leadership crisis in Labour Party lingers, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it did not monitor the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses for the election of delegates for primary elections.

Secretary to the Commission Rose Oriaran-Anthony, in response to the request made by the Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South East, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, said the LP did not notify INEC on dates of its congresses which later produced its candidates through primary elections.

The APC had in a letter dated April 12, 2023, requested the commission to confirm the conduct of the congresses by the LP.
