Victor Osimhen’s agent Andrea D’Amico has denied the news in some quarters that the Nigerian goalscoring sensation has signed a contract renewal with his Italian Serie A side, Napoli.
Osimhen had joined Napoli on a club record fee of €70 million last summer with the five year deal due to expire on June 30, 2025.
D’Amico who is Osimhen’s intermediary while fielding questions on 1 Station Radio during the programme ‘Il Sogno nel Cuore’ (‘The Dream in the Heart’) at the weekend says he is not aware of the former Lille striker extending his deal at Napoli.
“Possible renewal of Victor Osimhen? I don’t know anything about it,” begins the well-known Italian operator agent.
“I’m happy that he did well in his first year, despite everything. Too bad he didn’t hit the Champions League with Napoli: it would have been an important goal on a sporting and economic level,” D’Amico said.
“What do I think of Luciano Spalletti? High level coach. Failure to qualify for the Champions League, however, takes away an important showcase for the enhancement of the players who, with the Champions League, would certainly have acquired a higher price.
“Will the Napoli squad change now? I am convinced that there will always be some adjustments. The entrances will depend on the exits. To see what form you want to adopt. The squad is wide, but there are always some possible surprises.
