Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu has joined the 2023 governorship race of the state, saying he is offering the people of the state a covenant of service, performance and leadership.
While stating that the leadership of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has succeeded in the past seven years, the former Abia Assembly Speaker promised to consolidate on the success of the incumbent governor.
At his official declaration at Abia Hotel, Finbarrs Road Umuahia, Hon. Chukwu, who hails from Nkporo in Ohafia local government said as someone who has succeeded as a Chattered Accountant before joining politics in 2003 when he was elected as a member of Abia State House of Assembly and later as Speaker in 2011, he has capacity to lead.
He said his sterling records as a member of the Legislature is still a point of reference.
“It’s on record that the 5th Abia House of Assembly which I supervised remains the most peaceful and productive in the history of Abia State” he said.
He noted that by the year 2023, he will be the first deputy governor to serve for a period of eight years with the same boss.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for finding him useful and trustworthy to work with him in the past seven years.
The Deputy governor said he understands all corners of Abia State and what the state needs at this time, noting that it’s a work in progress.
He assured that he will provide the best in housing, good roads, schools, clean markets, adequate security, healthy environment and other things that make life more liveable.
He insisted that his decision to join the governorship race is borne out of conviction that he has what it takes to take the state to greater heights.
