I’ll Focus On Healthcare, Youth Empowerment, Education, Others If Elected – Abia Reps Aspirant, Ibe Okwara

Hon Ibe Okwara

An aspirant for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency Abia State, Ibe Okwara has said if elected as a member of House of House of Reps in 2023, his concentration will be on adequate health care, empowerment for young people, enhanced environment for education, infrastructure and others.

He said the health care system available in his constituency is inadequate, insisting that the health of the people is critical to help them realise their full potentials.

Speaking with ABN TV on Thursday shortly after announcing his resignation from APC, Osonwa expressed dissatisfaction that the hospitals are in deplorable state, in addition to lack of facilities.

He said he is at the moment partnering some NGOs to renovate some hospitals around the constituency and equip them to function optimally.

We already have our focus, we know what we want to achieve. In the last four or five years, we have spent well over 5 million dollars in collaboration with our partners, looking after healthcare of people in our area,” he said.

According to Osonwa, at the moment, his organisation and partners have secured $1.5m dollars to embark on another health care mission.

These he said he intends to take even to greater heights if elected as a representative of the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, maintaining that the federal government should not continue to bear the burden of grassroot health care services.

We can’t expect the federal government to continue to bear the burden. We need people that are vibrant enough that can find innovative ways to do what we want to do, whether it is road, health care or empowerment of our people,” he added.

He said the poor road network, increasing number of youths who are talented but still unemployed, depleting educational infrastructure as well as incessant disruption academic calendar are all issues of concern.

He cited undemocratic imposition as his reason for withdrawal from the Reps primary election of APC scheduled to take place on Friday and his subsequent resignation.

He said his new political family will be announced soon.
