Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a delegation to Jos, Plateau State capital to evacuate the about 200 students of Abia origin currently stranded at the University of Jos following a crisis that led to closure of the school.
The team led by the governor’s Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Mr Chibuzo Ndom also comprises of security personnel, a statement made available to ABN TV by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu says.
He added that the team is expected to safely evacuate the students to Umuahia, Abia State capital where the governor will welcome them.

The leadership of Students Union Government of the University of Jos had last week announced that about five students of the school have been murdered as a result of the renewed crisis.
It also called on government and security agencies to take proactive measures to ensure that the killings are brought to an end while the perpetrators are brought to boom.
Abia has joined the long list of states across the country to evacuate their students to safety following the renewed crisis.
