Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has relieved Prof. Okorie Kalu Osonwa, the state Polytechnic Rector in Aba of his appointment.
Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem announced this on Sunday in a statement.
The governor also appointed Associate Professor, Haglar Okorie as the acting rector.
No reason was given for the rector’s dismissal but it may not be unconnected with the loss of accreditation last year which crippled academic activities.
The National Board for Technical Education had withdrawn the accreditation following about 30 months unpaid salaries of the polytechnic staff.
The former rector has been accused of lack of financial prudence and poor management.
