Ikpeazu Greets IBB At 80, Says Ex-President True Elder Statesman

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a message of congratulations and goodwill to a former Head of State and Military President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd), GCFR on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Governor Ikpeazu describes the former President as an authentic Nigerian Statesman of gargantuan proportions whose career in the military and in the governance of Nigeria have become key critical components of Nigerian history, a congratulatory message made available to ABN TV by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka says.

“One key characteristic that defines the personal trait of the General” Ikpeazu states, “is that he is a man who understands the political undercurrents of the diversity of the Nigerian state and how best to use it to forge a more united country”, adding that the place of General Babangida in the history of Nigeria is assured.

“Even in retirement“, Governor Ikpeazu continues, “the voice of IBB continues to reverberate on national issues while a greater number of his policies while in office remain reference points in administrative depth and the use of merit as a basis for leadership selection”.
