Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the Commissioner for Finance to immediately pay two months salary arrears owed to the staff of Abia State University Teaching Hospital.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr. Eze Chikamnayo on Wednesday.
The governor also promised that ABSUTH Workers will receive another bulk payment of two months salaries in December 2022.
“These heart warming developments are borne out of the determination of our amiable Governor , Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to reform and reposition ABSUTH for greater productivity and ensure continuity of services to our dear citizens,” the statement read in part.
According to the Commissioner, the perennial problem of ABSUTH has become a source of concern to successive administrations.
The Government also warns that it will deal decisively with any person or group of persons who will attempt to disrupt or disturb Workers at work or patients in admission at ABSUTH.
“Government futher advices political Parties and politicians, while playing their politics, to respect and preserve the sanctity of Government Institutions especially those saddled with the solemn protection of the health of our Dear citizens.
“The Commissioner of Police ,Abia State and the Area Commander, Aba have been duly advised in this regard and will take necessary action accordingly,” he concluded.
