The Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu will after the lockdown order in the state commission the completed Aba automated shoe factory as well as perform the groundbreaking event of the Abia airport, which he says his administration will complete before it winds up in 2023, ABN TV reports.
This is according to the Chief of Staff to the governor, Dr. ACB Agbazuere in a live radio interview monitored by ABN TV to give the scorecard of the governor since the commencement of his second term in office on Saturday.
Dr. Agbazuere said the governor who sent 30 Abia youths to China to undergo training on automated shoe production has also completed the automated shoe factory in the state located in Aba, with all state-of-art equipment fully installed and ready for commissioning as soon as the lockdown, a measure put in place in the state to contain the spread of coronavirus is eased.
According to Agbazuere, a legal practitioner and former Isialangwa South local government chairman, the Abia state international airport is to be constructed on Public-Private Sector Partnership (PPP), saying a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued for a 1000 hectare land and surveyed as well.

He revealed that the next visit by officials of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) after the restriction of movement order in Abuja and Abia will signal the readiness of the state governor to conduct a groundbreaking exercise.
“I am convinced and our target, but for this pandemic is that the governor will still be on seat at least 6 months or one year, while this project is completed and he will be flying out and flying at the same airport. That is Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for you” he stated.
According to the Chief of Staff, the new government house, Umuahia commenced by the administration of former governor T.A Orji will also be completed by the current administration under the leadership of Dr. Ikpeazu before the administration winds up in 2023 so that his successor will not occupy the rented apartment where the government house is currently located.
Dr. Agbazuere also remarked that the state has commenced a radio class for pupils in the state to fill the vacuum created by the stay-at-home order, which he said will enable them to receive their classroom lessons from the comfort of their homes through the radio.

This he added will keep them busy and deter them from delving into anti-social activities while at home.
He also remarked that the Ikpeazu administration has also completed an ultramodern headquarters complex for Nigeria police, zone 9 in Umuahia. This he said will be ready for occupation when the lockdown is eased in the coming days.
