The governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday cancelled ongoing redevelopment work of the Ngwa road Market, Aba.
Ikpeazu who was apparently irked by the shoddy and slow work done by the contractor, Dr. Uju Anusionwu of Peacock Urban Regeneration Limited at the Ngwa road Market at the end of an inspection of the reconstruction work at the Ngwa road market directed the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu to look for another contractor that would deliver lines 4-6 before May 29, 2023.
On the Wednesday fire incident at the market, the governor while thanking God that no life was lost and the fire did not escalate, gave N500, 000 each to the owners of the two shops affected in the fire incident as support.
Speaking in an interview, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Okiyi-Kalu said that the governor meant well for the traders and promised to implement the order of the governor.
