The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has stated that the challenge of security in the south East of the country is changing, urging security agencies to adopt a new approach in dealing with the menace.
According to the Governor, criminal elements are changing their mode of operation, which he believes calls for a superior method among security agents to curtail the challenges.
The governor stated this during the 2023 first quarter meeting for South East Zonal State Directors Of Security (SDSes)on Friday May 5th at Abia State Command of the DSS Headquarters Umuahia.

Ikpeazu while appreciating the security agencies for their work of Sacrifice and love towards the state and south East region said the greatest way to achieve success is to collaborate, noting that inter-agency collaboration, relationship and intelligence sharing is vital.
He further stated that the state taught of initiating what is referred to as ‘C-PAMS’ thereby changing crime diary in systems for police stations.
He expressed regret that this has not been achieved due to a weak system to accept such initiative.
He said fighting crime requires rehearsals and as such if meetings like this is not held it will be difficult for the security agencies to deepen their relationship and concern in what happens in the region.
Ikpeazu stressed that 8 years down the line Abia State has not recorded any successful bank robbery in his time as the Governor of the State adding that he would have not achieved anything without the support of the law enforcement agencies.
“I will recommend that the substructure on which our security architecture in Nigeria is hinted should be reviewed so that proper recommendations and acolyte will be given to officers and agencies for their participation in combating crime”.
Briefing newsmen Governor Ikpeazu said the challenges in the state is the technology of crime whereby some person’s are involved in cult activities, killing, Kidnapping, and all of its kind adding that inter-agency collaboration will help deal with insecurity in the state and the country at large.
