The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the arrest and interrogation of Mr. Muibi Folawiyo, chairman of the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), over serious allegations of corruption.
ICPC spokesperson Dr. Demola Bakare disclosed the development to journalists, stating that Folawiyo is under investigation for alleged large-scale theft, diversion of public funds for personal use, and violations of due process in the discharge of his official duties.
“He was arrested at the council secretariat located at 42 Broad Street, Lagos, after repeatedly ignoring several invitations from the commission, which he acknowledged,” Dr. Bakare revealed.
According to the ICPC, Folawiyo is currently under investigation by a team from the commission’s headquarters. Though he has been granted administrative bail, he is required to return for further questioning as the investigation continues.
