I Won’t Be A Propaganda Machine – Abia Information Commissioner, Kanu Vows

The new Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu has vowed to manage the state information system for the good of the state and not as a propaganda machine.

Kanu stated this weekend after being sworn in by the state governor, Alex Otti as a member of the State Executive Council.

Addressing friends who gathered to felicitate with him over the induction, Kanu assured, “In the days ahead, a lot will happen. I am not going to manage information to tell propaganda but to say how things are. The government is going, to tell the truth always. We will tell Abians the truth and mobilise them.”

The commissioner further regretted the moral position of the state, noting “Abia is God’s own state and is supposed to be a state that belongs to God but was handed over to the devil.

“Otti came to salvage the state as Abians are too tired of the old order. Having found themselves in the doldrums for a long time, they needed a change. We will continue to touch lives.”

He assured that he will generate goodwill and trust for the state government and will re-orientate the people, adding, “We will not allow any disconnect. The government will reconnect with the ordinary Abians.”

Otti, he said, had assured that he was not going to probe anybody, observing, “but by the time he came in, he found the extraordinary and must recover the state for the people.”
