I Will Go Ahead To Set Up Campaign Council Despite APGA Legal Tussle — Chikwe Udensi [VIDEO]

Despite protracted legal tussle on who emerges as the Abia State governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, an aspirant, Sir Chikwe Udensi has said he will set up his campaign council this week hoping that the pendulum swings in his favour as the legal battle rages.

Sir Udensi, Interpol Systems Consultant and security expert had approached the court to nullify the primary election of the party which produced Prof. Gregory Ibe as Abia State governorship candidate of the party.

Justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court Abuja had two weeks ago annulled the election and ordered a re-run within 14 days.

But speaking on a radio programme, Open Parliament on Wednesday on Love FM Umuahia monitored by ABN TV, Sir Udensi said the 14 days ultimatum for the conduct of a fresh primary election expired on Wednesday (Dec. 14) but expressed concern that the party has not communicated anyone neither fixed a date for the conduct of the primary.

While acknowledging that Prof. Gregory Ibe has filed a stay of execution regarding the judgements, he said he (Udensi) will file a cross-appeal to seek his declaration as the governorship candidate of the party.

Sir Udensi insists he will set up his campaign council, expressing optimism that he will also secure another round of victory at the appeal court which will pronounce him the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state.

“Do not forget that we want to put up a formidable team that will fight and make sure that APGA wins this election. We cannot wait, we have 60 days to election (to submit governorship candidate) and 60 days is going to end sometime in January. Are we going to wait till after January to have a campaign team?

“And after that 60 days and someone is not happy with the outcome of the appeal court judgement, they have right to go to the Supreme Court and that will also take up to the end of February or even March.

“If it will take that long, it means you just have to be prepared and make sure you put the various instrumentality and tools to make sure there is an effective team that will win that election. So we cannot be caught unawares,” he said.

He said he will set up a 15-member campaign team in every ward, a 28-member campaign team in every local government and people to play supervisory roles and organise what is happening at the ward levels.

He also said there will be advisory committees in the area of security, healthcare, education, revenue generation and social services which he decried is a neglected in the state.
