I Want To Play At World Cup, Super Eagles Not Under Pressure To Beat Bafana — Nwabali

Stanley Nwabali has expressed his desire to represent Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles missed out on a place at the last edition of the World Cup hosted by Qatar.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was Nwabali’s first international competition appearance for Nigeria.

The Chippa United shot stopper stated that he is looking forward taking part at the World Cup.

“Playing at the World Cup will be a nice feeling for me. I enjoyed the atmosphere at the AFCON , I know it will be bigger at the World Cup. I really want to be there too,” he told the Super Eagles media.

The Super Eagles will resume their fight for a place at the 2026 World Cup when they take on South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.

Finidi George’s side are yet to record a win in Group C and are condemned to beat Bafana Bafana.

Nwabali however said the Super Eagles are not under pressure to beat Hugo Broos’ men.

“There is no pressure, we just take the game one at a time, we just have to put ourselves together and try to win the game (against South Africa), then move on to the next game against Benin in Abidjan,” he added.

“All we need now is to win this game and fight hard to qualify for the World Cup. Everybody is training hard and looking forward to the game.”

The Super Eagles defeated Bafana 4-2 on penalties the last time both teams met at the 2023 AFCON finals.

Nwabali stated that the win will give the Super Eagles extra motivation to beat their opponent.

“The first one was a knockout game at the AFCON, this is World Cup qualifier, I won’t say the last game give us an edge over them in this coming game, but is another motivation to beat them,” he declared.

“I won’t say it is going to be a tough game rather a good game. I am a kind of guy who loves playing in front of the fans.

*Playing in front of our fans will give me energy and motivation to do well in the game.”
