I Can’t Endorse Abia APC Governorship Candidate Who Is Campaigning Against Me — Sen. Kalu

Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said he will not endorse the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress APC in Abia state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike whom he accused of going about abusing him (Kalu).

Sen. Kalu, representing Abia North senatorial district said Emenike is yet to formally inform him as the highest elected officer of APC from Abia state that he (Emenike) is running to become the governor of the state.

Featuring on Arise News breakfast show on Tuesday monitored by ABN TV, Sen. Kalu accused Emenike of publicly campaigning against him and abusing him even in his own Bende local government, saying he will not condescend low to exchange verbal abuse with Emenike.

“I’m not going to endorse any governorship candidate because my blood brother is running for governorship and the governorship candidate of APC has not even formally informed me that he’s running for office, so how can I endorse what I do not know?

“I was a governor in this state, all the governorship candidates have been here to tell me formally that they are running for election. I have not seen the governorship candidate of APC, so he is running for himself”, he said.

The lawmaker said he maintains his stand and no one will make him change his mind, wondering why High Chief Emenike goes about campaigning against him.

He was at Uzuakoli yesterday, he abused me before the people there, he was with my traditional ruler in my village yesterday, he abused me before the traditional ruler and I accept it, I don’t want to be an animal like another animal my responding to him“, he declared.

Sen. Kalu accused High Chief Emenike of bearing grudges for 24 years, denying allegation that he stopped Emenike’s ambition of becoming governor and Senator, saying it is untrue.

The former Governor insists he will not say a word against High Chief Emenike, challenging those who said he is not popular to wait for the outcome of the Feb. 25 National Assembly election.

Sen. Kalu stated that his brother, Mascot Uzor-Kalu is qualified and well exposed to lead the state, urging the people of Abia to choose any candidate of their choice.
