Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has opened up on how they convinced Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to sign for them ahead of Liverpool in 2020.
The Reds were in for the Nigerian striker when he was being sold by Lille, given his success in Ligue 1.
Now Osimhen is worth even more money, with Napoli winning Serie A this season on the back of his goals.

Giuntoli’s former collaborator Giandomenico Costi told Italian outlet Tuttosport: “The signing of Osimhen is Giuntoli’s biggest masterpiece. He [Osimhen] was locked in a hotel for three days.
“Giuntoli knew Liverpool was interested, and Jurgen Klopp had made his move, but Cristiano spoke to Osimhen in the hotel for three days until he convinced him to accept Napoli.
“He was full of energy. Giuntoli is a director who would call you 100 times a day. He knew Victor very well, he had even followed him at Charleroi.”
