Abia State police command says its officers of confidence building/show of force patrol were on Friday attacked in the state commercial capital, Aba by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN.
Spokesman of the command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna in a statement on Friday said the attackers were armed with dangerous weapons, including petrol bombs, matchetes, battle axes and others.
The attack he said was repelled with a minimal casualty as the hoodlums scampered for safety.
“The attack was repelled by the Police operatives with minimal casualties while majority of the hoodlums scampered for safety. However, normalcy has returned in the area.”
The Command cautions any person or group of persons intending to scuttle the relative peace being enjoyed in the State to have a rethink, saying that the security operatives in the State will not fold their arms and watch disgruntled elements to mesmerize the State.
