Abia State Police Command has narrated how it rescued police personnel who came under mob attack around Azikiwe road by Ama Ogbonna area of Aba.
Speaking with ABN TV on Thursday, the public relations officer of the State Police Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said trouble started when a mob attacked the police officer whose identity was not revealed for fear of stigmatization.
According to SP Ogbonna, the police officer was in a Keke NAPEP along with other passengers when the Keke driver hit a Sienna vehicle.

This was said to have angered the vehicle owner who demanded the repair of his vehicle. It later degenerated into an altercation.
The policeman who was not in uniform was said to have intervened in appealing to the owner of the Sienna vehicle to tamper justice with mercy considering the extent of the stain.
According to the spokesperson of the command, a passerby was said to have identified the policeman and raised the alarm, leading to a mob attack on him.
The police officer was said to have called for rescue from his colleagues.
Upon arrival, the team of policemen according to SP Ogbonna shot into the air to disperse the mob and rescue their colleague from danger.
While denying any casualty, he said some arrests were made while the attacked policeman has been hospitalised.
He also denied that the police damaged some vehicles belonging to the civil populace.
