The Abia State House of Assembly led by the Labour Party on Wednesday denied Journalists attached to the Assembly access into the hallowed chamber to observe activities during their plenary.
Interacting with members of PDP after they staged another walkout making it three times, member representing Obingwa East State Constituency, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, said upon arrival into the Chamber for the business of the day, they observed the presence of some police officers and DSS officials inside the plenary.
According to the Lawmaker, he noted that they became apprehensive when they discovered that Journalists were not on the ground to observe plenary and therefore called on the Speaker to excuse the officers and afterward Deputy Clark and Sergeant at Arms informed the officer to excuse them.
Hon. Akpulonu also informed that they staged another walkout because they discovered that the votes and proceedings of what transpired yesterday, Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, still had the names to which they objected last time, adding that they cannot be part of the irregularities going on in the 8th Assembly until the matter is resolved in court.
He further revealed that Governor Dr. Alex Otti has not intervened in the situation saying that he cannot claim not to be aware of what is going on in the House, stressing that what he expects from him is to call the lawmakers together so that things will be resolved amicably, emphasizing that they pledged an oath to support him to succeed in his administration.
He also accused the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, saying he is aware that what they are doing is wrong.
All these sponsored journalism kills the prodession cos of peanuts and crumbs. most of you guys nenefitted from the ill governance of Abians for the past 24yrs via junk journalism.
Just read your report again, what is your interest in looking at people who are crying for their wasted years of Abians. During the last regime what was your take in the state assembly? You people’s mind will tell you that you are doing some good and intelligent journalism?
Let me tell you, if you guys think this is the best way to close ranks in the new govt, think again. Abians are waiting for any kind of distraction on the people’s governor, they will receive some sorts of dirty gifts.
You guys should find another thing to do. I can see why some governmenta close their doors, and work. Cos, when your ears are too listening, some quarters takes it as weakness.
Those men should go and sit down and down the needful before Abians will rise against them. Most of them were enjoying the tears of Abians, and fed fat from the starvation of the masses. The last assembly never commented on the non payment of pensioners, civil servants, bad infrastructural condition of the state, why? Because they were part of the kick back system that made it possible for the indigenous contractors to loot contract sums. That time, I think is over, which is the reason for the bickerings.
Finally, is PDP majority in the house? Is LP the majority? Is YPP majority? Is APGA majority? The answer remains nope. Cos the dy/dx of this depends on the political move of the two parties that have higher votes. It is a game of numbers. Let PDP ask themselves if any of the YPP/APGA membes will join them after their heinous 8 yrs past.
We are now wiser.
