A private security guard identified as John Danjuma has allegedly butchered his former employer, Boma Jumbo, at her residence in the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
PUNCH Metro gathered on Thursday that the incident occurred on Tuesday.
Jumbo was said to be a former Director of Administrator at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that Danjuma was earlier arrested and is standing trial for allegedly stealing $10,000 from the deceased.
Though he denied stealing the money, he was said to have been granted bail and the case adjourned.
Meanwhile, a viral video has surfaced where Danjuma narrated the misunderstanding he had with the woman while being interrogated by policemen at the State Criminal and Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
From the video seen by our correspondent, Danjuma decided to visit the resident of his former boss in the wee hours of the morning ahead of the next court hearing.
The victim, it was gathered, was expected to testify against Danjuma in court on Friday
After finding his way into the compound, the suspect reportedly destroyed the kitchen protector to gain access to the main building and hid there to perfect his sinister motive.
He then reportedly took a machete he found in the kitchen and waited until later when it was raining, came out to attack his former boss and butchered her.
After committing the crime, he reportedly left the woman crawling on the floor in a pool of blood and stole some of her jewellery.
But as he made to escape, luck ran out of him as neighbours caught him after they saw blood stains all over him while leaving the building and raised the alarm.
Danjuma, while being interrogated by the operatives, confessed to the crime, claiming that the woman was prosecuting him in court after accusing him of stealing her $10, 000.
“We were having issues and this woman is prosecuting me in court. Our case is coming up on Friday. They accused me of stealing $10, 000, but I did not steal the money,” Danjuma said.
At a point, one of the operatives as seen in the video interjected, saying, “Court granted you bail, is that not? You know that you did not steal the money, why should you go back to her house that early morning to take her life?”
“Yes, she is dead. She is dead, I won’t lie,” Danjuma replied.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and Danjuma’s arrest.
Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said, “The command is aware of the incident. The suspect who killed the woman, Boma Jumbo, has been arrested and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”
