House Of Reps Donates N100 Million To Support Plateau Attack Victims, Displaced Communities

The House of Representatives has donated N100 million to the Plateau State Government and select local government areas affected by recent violent attacks in a bid to support recovery efforts and provide relief to displaced communities.

The donation was delivered on behalf of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas by a delegation of federal lawmakers led by former Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Idris Wase. The group, which included all House members from Plateau State, presented the funds to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang during a condolence visit.

According to a statement from the governor’s office, signed by Director of Press and Public Affairs Gyang Bere, the lawmakers were in the state to express solidarity and deliver financial support as directed by the Speaker.

Rt. Hon. Wase stated that the intervention is part of the National Assembly’s broader commitment to alleviating the suffering of victims and rebuilding affected communities. The breakdown of the donation includes:

• N50 million to the Plateau State Government

• N20 million to Bassa Local Government Area

Governor Mutfwang expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, commending the Plateau caucus for their unity and compassion. He stressed the urgent need for improved rural infrastructure, especially road and communication networks, to enhance security and rapid response in crisis-prone areas.

The governor also addressed the recent fire that ravaged the makeshift Terminus Market in Jos, describing it as a “painful setback” for hundreds of traders. He pledged immediate assistance and long-term support to help affected business owners recover.

“We will stand by our people. Their resilience is the true spirit of Plateau,” Mutfwang affirmed.
